Broomfield, Colorado Early Thursday morning, a shooting incident at the Arista Flats apartment complex left one woman dead and the perpetrator in custody following a violent standoff with law enforcement. The tragedy rocked the peaceful suburb of Broomfield. Ayesha Quest, 30, tragically died in the incident, which happened around 6:30 a.m., and other law enforcement officers were injured. Gregory Ryan Miles, the 34-year-old suspect, is still in the hospital following an argument in which he was shot by police.

The incident unfolds
It all started early Thursday morning when Broomfield police received a call about a disturbance at the Arista apartment building. Officers were dispatched after a neighbor called 911 due to loud yelling and strange noises coming from one of the units. The scene worsened and was about to get out of control when the police arrived at the compound.
The officers heard screams coming from inside the unit as soon as they approached the scene of the disturbance. According to police reports, Gregory Ryan Miles, the suspect, acted violently and shouted. Once officers tried to contact him, things quickly got worse. Miles opened fire without warning, firing into nearby apartments as well as the officers. The rapid bursts of gunfire scared everyone in the compound as bullets ricocheted into the parking lot and neighboring units, putting police officers and civilians in danger.
