Dr. Richard Milazzo, a beloved primary care physician for General Practitioner, PC, has passed away unexpectedly at the age of 80. Dunkirk-Fredonia community in mourning. Dr. Milazzo was a committed physician who worked with many generations of families during his extraordinary 40-year career.
After graduating from Tufts University School of Medicine and the State University of New York at Buffalo, Dr. Milazzo completed his medical education with an internship at Dr. Edward J. Meyer Memorial Hospital (now ECMC) and a residency at Buffalo General Medical Center. Even after he officially retired in 2023, his love for medicine and his patients was clear. As a member of GPPC's home visiting team, he never stopped giving his patients the attention they needed.
Dr. Milazzo was devoted to his patients in more ways than one. Serving on numerous boards and committees, including the Board of Directors, he has demonstrated his deep involvement with the Brooks-TLC Hospital System in an effort to maintain easily accessible quality health care in Dunkirk. ACHE's New York Health Care Leaders Recognition Program presented him with the Exemplary Service Award in recognition of his outstanding efforts. He was praised as “an outstanding citizen, one worthy of the esteem of both the community and the greater state of New York” by former state representative Catherine Young.
Dr. Milzo left a lasting legacy of professionalism, compassion and unwavering dedication to the medical industry. His warmth and caring for everyone he met will always be remembered by his patients, co-workers and friends.
