Following a car accident, Jack Brown, a 17-year-old student at Middletown, Minisink Valley High School in New York, died.
Brown was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Mamaking early Saturday.
A white 2014 Honda CRV was traveling on State Route 17 West when Brown and three other Minisink Valley students lost control of the vehicle and it plunged down a steep ravine.
Two students had potentially fatal injuries, and one student died. The driver, 17 years old, was not seriously injured but managed to survive.
Authorities have charged him with DWI and vehicular manslaughter because they believe he was intoxicated when the collision occurred.
At 1:28 a.m., New York State Patrol troopers were dispatched to a one-car crash near Exit 114 in the Village of Mamketing.
A white 2014 Honda CRV that overturned after leaving the shoulder of the road and driving down a steep ravine was discovered by officers.
Two other students are still in serious condition and Brown was killed in the collision.
Counselors are available at Minisink Valley High School to offer staff and students additional support.
The accident is still under investigation by the New York State Police.
