Michael Iorizzo Death, Obituary: 18-year-old killed in four-vehicle accident in Havelock

In Havelock, North Carolina, a four-vehicle crash claimed the life of 18-year-old Michael Iorizzo.

Iorizzo, who recently graduated from Havelock High School and was starting his first semester as an engine mechanic at the community college, lost control of his vehicle on Route 70 on Monday, causing a four-vehicle crash that claimed his life.

It is believed that standing water and a lot of rain played a part in the collision.

At 4:58 PM on Monday, September 16, Havelock Police and Havelock Fire/EMS were called to the vicinity of Hwy 70 W, immediately east of Sermons Blvd., in reference to a motor vehicle accident.

Iorizzo lost control while traveling eastbound on U.S. 70 W, crossed the median into the westbound lanes, and was struck by a car, according to the initial investigation.

One person died in the four-vehicle crash caused by the collision.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol and the Havelock Police Department are currently working together to investigate this accident. Anyone with additional information regarding this collision is encouraged to call the Havelock Police Department at 252-447-3212 and speak with Detective Kilgore.
