The skeletal remains of Eliyahu Vio were identified by the Two Rivers Police as those discovered last week. The 3-year-old boy went missing in February, and an Amber Alert was issued, but it has since been cancelled.
The bones were discovered Sept. 7 in a wooded area of Two Rivers by a deer hunter, according to the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office. The find was found near the Manito camp and a quarry in a privately owned area.
To confirm that the bones and head in the remains were Vue's, the Wisconsin Crime Lab tested them for DNA. Once a DNA test verified the identity of the remains, according to the police, the family was identified.
“The family is devastated. We are devastated. Our community is devastated,” said Two Rivers Police Chief Benjamin Meinert. “I never met Eliyahu, but I saw this 3-year-old boy bring out the best in this community.”

“Elijah was a little guy, but he left a huge impact on all of us, and he will not be forgotten,” said Two Rivers Assistant Police Chief Melissa Wiesner.
The police said that the place where Vio's remains were found is just over three miles from where he disappeared. Meinert said different crews have searched the area near Manitow Drive several times in the past.
“It's very sad, young lives,” said Two Rivers resident Joseph Foote. “Definitely not the way I would like to see it end. Children are a precious thing.”
Vue went missing from his Two Rivers home in February. 20. Vio's mother, Katrina Baur, and her boyfriend, Jesse Wang, are still in jail – both charged with felony counts of child neglect, though not directly related to the boy's disappearance and death at this time.

Two Rivers police confirmed Friday that the remains of 3-year-old Eliyahu Viu, who had been missing since February, were found last week. Amber alert cancelled.
“I have grandchildren that age, and I just don't understand how people can do some of the things they do,” Foote said. “I hope the justice system pays attention to people.”
A death investigation has now been opened. Anyone with information related to Vue's death is asked to call the Two Rivers Police Department.
