Richard Nash: Motorcyclist killed in St. Tammany Parish crash

The two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Interstate 41 near Dolph Gaines Road happened just before 4 p.m., according to Louisiana State Police, and Troop L began investigating.

A 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Bush resident Richard Nash, 63, was allegedly traveling north on Route 41 when a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling south.

The driver of the Silverado swerved to the left into the motorcycle lane for reasons that are currently being investigated.

Nash was wearing a DOT-approved helmet, but he still suffered horrific injuries from the motorcycle hitting the passenger side of the truck. He was taken to a local hospital where he eventually died.

The driver of the Chevy was not injured in the collision. As part of the ongoing investigation, normal toxicological samples were taken even though there is no suspicion of harm to him.
