There was only one car – a white van was on the road, and a blue sports car was in the ditch.

According to Wilhite, one of the cars contained two SPD officers. While the other person was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, Matthew Roden died at the scene.

A comparison of his fingerprints allowed a certain identification.

It is not believed that the driver of the white van was injured.

Twelve police cars, the Louisiana State Police and the Shreveport Fire Department are all at the scene.

Wilhite urged everyone to pray for the police and our department.

Shreveport police are still investigating the wreck.

They requested an autopsy.
