Helen strengthened from a tropical storm to a hurricane earlier today, and is expected to hit Florida's Gulf Coast, most likely the Big Bend area, as a major hurricane soon.

Hurricane Helen is still gaining strength over the Gulf of Mexico, and is moving northeast toward Florida with maximum sustained winds of 85 mph.

The storm is expected to make landfall late Thursday in northwest Florida as a Category 3 or 4 storm.

This can cause devastating damage to coastlines.

And as you can see, this storm front will make its way north while inland areas could see up to six inches of rain over the next couple of days.
