John W. Devo was riding on Richmond Road in Lichfield when he crashed into the vehicle, trapping his motorbike underneath.
Before the explosion and both cars caught fire, the scouts helped pull Devoe out from under the truck.
He tragically succumbed to his injuries.
The truck driver, a 34-year-old man from Bowdoin, was pulled out with the help of a passerby.
Police say Debo appeared to be speeding when he crossed into oncoming traffic.
Devoe, of Litchfield, worked for the Lee Auto Malls Group, Maine's largest auto dealer. He graduated from Oak Hill High School.
