A 15-year-old Greenbrier High School student lost his life in a car accident near Evans, Georgia, on Thursday.
Gordon Carmichael, of Evans, Georgia, is said to have been driving his parents' Jeep after leaving home late one night. However, he lost control and crashed into several pine trees at Riverwood Parkway and Amberley Drive.
When Carmichael's mother woke up and saw him missing, she reported him missing at about 5:50 am.
Authorities discovered the boy's body in the crash at 4:30 a.m. Thursday.
Officials from Greenbrier High School announced on Facebook that all sporting events on Thursday would be canceled.
Carmichael, a sophomore, played football for Greenbrier, although he was sidelined in the fall with an injury.
