The identity of the person who opened fire on a Russell County sheriff's deputy Monday during a shootout in Kentucky has been revealed.
On Bluebird Drive in Russell Springs, Kentucky, 41-year-old Joshua Arnold and deputies with the Russell County Sheriff's Office were engaged in a shooting.
Both the suspect, Josh Arnold, and Deputy Josh Phipps were killed in the shooting.
The suspect fled on Bluebird Drive in Russell Springs, and the Russell County Sheriff's Office, Kentucky State Police and other agencies have been searching for him.
After chasing the man into a mobile home, Phipps and other officers opened fire.
After being shot, Phipps was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died. In addition, the suspect – later revealed to be Joshua Arnold – was shot.

A memorial service was held for Phipps Tuesday, with friends, family and neighbors lining up to pay their respects outside the county courthouse.
Russell County Sheriff Derek Folston said, “He died a hero and I just want everyone to remember the family in their prayers.”
Retired officer Tracy Vantsel added: “It's like losing a member of your family because they're all one big family.”
