We here at JTP are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of the iconic dancer and author, Michaela De Prince. Our heartfelt condolences go out to her loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.

The dance world has lost a true gem, and Michaela's light, grace and strength will be missed forever. Rest in strength, Michaela of Binty Deprince, your legacy will continue to inspire generations.

Born in war-torn Sierra Leone, Michaela rose from unimaginable adversity and found her passion for ballet after being adopted by a loving family in the US. She became the youngest principal dancer at the Dance Theater of Harlem before moving on to Holland National Ballet, then Boston Ballet. Story Her resilience was shared in her memoir, Taking Flight: From War Orphan to Star Ballerina, and she used her platform as an ambassador for War Child Holland, advocating for children affected by war and violence. Michaela was also known for her charity gala, Dare to Dream, which focused on their well-being and mental health. of children in conflict zones.
