Zachary Bursa Cause of death: Zachary Bursa, a 21-year-old goalkeeper from Quebec, passed away unexpectedly over the weekend of cardiac arrest.
During the last game of the Dekhockey (ball hockey) tournament in Trois-Rivières, Bursa tragically passed away after a heart attack. Before that, he played in 27 NCJHL games between 2017 and 2022, where he was crowned champion in 2018 with the Papineauville Vikings.
According to Marco Normandin, the incident happened at the beginning of the game. Zachary signaled for help when he felt sick, then collapsed in the arms of an official. Unfortunately, resuscitation efforts performed at the scene were unable to save him, although a nurse and a respiratory therapist gave their all.
The suddenness of the occurrence left the hockey community and its people stunned and devastated. Witnesses told about the terrible event and the efforts made to save the young athlete.
